As someone who wants to work in the finance or tech field, I chose Microsoft as my primary focus for my Public Relations writing assignments. Focusing on Microsoft gave me the opportunity to strengthen my ability to write for a major technology company and also diversify my writing skills

News Release

Wrote an original, one-page press release announcing a fictional new product or initiative for a corporation, tying it to a current trend to establish newsworthiness. Included an executive quote and a photo integrated into the copy, following standard press release formatting and AP style demonstrating skill in newsjacking, executive voice, and traditional media relations writing.

AI-Optimized Email Pitch Release

Wrote a media pitch to a real journalist/outlet, positioning a fictional company initiative as a newsworthy story tied to a broader trend or issue. The pitch establishes an angle, makes a clear ask (interview, coverage, etc.), and includes data points a reporter could use directly all within a tight 150-word limit. A follow-up phase involved using AI as an ideation tool to sharpen the pitch's clarity and concision, then editing the AI-assisted draft to reflect my own judgment and voice.

Corporate Fact Sheet

Researched and wrote a two-page corporate fact sheet designed to give a journalist with no prior knowledge a clear, factual overview of the company covering history, milestones, products/services, initiatives, employee base, and awards. Followed strict journalistic fact-sheet conventions: substantive, sourced details, no editorializing, consistent formatting, and properly cited outside information, paired with a clean visual layout including corporate branding.

Ethics Scenario & Presentation (Group Campaign)

Worked in a team to analyze a workplace ethics dilemma from the perspective of a corporate PR lead, applying the PRSA Code of Ethics and PRSA AI Guidelines to recommend a course of action. Developed a concise slide presentation summarizing the ethical principles at stake, the risks of mishandling the situation, and a defensible response demonstrating skill in ethical decision-making, crisis judgment, and translating professional codes of conduct into real-world PR strategy.

Crisis Media Briefing Talking Points (Group Campaign)

Developed a one-page set of talking points for an assigned role in a group crisis communications scenario, prepared for delivery at a simulated media briefing. Used AI as an ideation tool to draft and refine content, then applied independent judgment to verify accuracy and ensure alignment with my specific role and the group's overall narrative demonstrating skill in crisis messaging, concise briefing writing, and cross-team coordination to avoid message overlap.

PESO Media Strategy & Rationale (Group Campaign)

Collaborated on a 5-member team to map Paid, Earned, Shared, and Owned (PESO) media tactics for a seasonal campaign, aligning channel selection with specific consumer demographics. Contributed to a visual strategy slide and a data-driven, 500-word written analysis justifying audience segmentation and tactical choices across each PESO channel
